Melrose Area Hospital is a
25-bed community hospital with an attached 75-bed skilled nursing home and
41-unit senior apartment building. A full range of health care services and
convenient access to a variety of specialists are provided on the medical campus
in Melrose. Melrose Area Hospital employs more than 185 people who serve nearly
10,000 residents in and around western Stearns County. The city of Melrose is
located 25 miles west of St. Cloud, MN on Interstate 94.
At Melrose Area
Hospital, our mission is to provide quality health care services in a hometown
setting. The hospital was recently remodeled to create a comfortable and healing
environment that includes private patient rooms and special baby delivery
suites. The hospital also has the latest medical and diagnostic equipment such
as CT scanners and ultrasound to ensure quality medical care at the local level.
The hospital employs an excellent staff that is committed to fulfilling our
mission to our community.
Melrose Area Hospital Medical Staff consists of 6 family
practice physicians and one nurse practitioner.
Many physician specialists visit Melrose Area
Hospital on a scheduled basis to provide outreach services. This convenient
access allows our patients to receive the high quality specialty care they need,
while staying close to home. In many cases, the patient may be treated by a
specialist in St. Cloud and receive follow-up care by the same specialist in
Melrose.

An Adult Day Care program provides relief for care
takers during day time hours and gives participants social and recreational activities
that might not otherwise be available to them because of disability or other
circumstances. Participants receive a noon meal , snacks and assistance with medication
and personal care, if necessary.

PINE VILLA CARE CENTER

Pine Villa Care Center, a 75-bed skilled nursing home, provides 24 hour
nursing care and rehabilitation services. We are fortunate to have
53 private rooms. Pine Haven, was built in 1994 to provide special care for residents with
Alzheimers disease and other dementias. Pine Haven is a secure unit with two
enclosed courtyards for outdoor exercise. Staff are specially trained to meet the unique
needs of these special residents. Villa Court was opened in
2007 with 15 private rooms with in floor heat and personal bathrooms with
showers.
All residents are provided a variety of activities
and social programs to meet their interests and daily church services are provided in the
chapel. Pine Villa has spacious lounges, dining and recreational areas and special items
such as a bird aviary. Strong community and family support ensure many
visitors and a family atmosphere. Pine Villa provides high quality nursing care in a
supportive and caring environment.
PARK VIEW CENTER

Park View Center is a 41-unit apartment complex
attached to Melrose Area Hospital and Pine Villa Care Center. It overlooks the Jaycee Park
and provides independent living for persons 55+ in a secure apartment building. Each
apartment has emergency call cords that bring immediate nursing response from Pine
Villa. A retired Catholic priest lives in the apartments and provides chaplaincy
services to the entire complex.
Tenants have full use of the fireplace lounge, sun
room, patio, crafts room, laundry rooms and dining room. The rent package include morning
coffee and rolls, a nutritional noon dinner and weekly housekeeping. Cable TV,
electricity, water, sewer, trash service, snow removal and lawn care are also included in
the rent. A large parking lot is available or garages can be rented for your car.
Recreational programs are provided including outings
to area restaurants, community events and other points of interest. Daily church services
are provided in the chapel at Pine Villa. A beautician and barber provide services at the
beauty shop at Pine Villa. Weekly transportation to the local grocery store is also
provided at no charge.
Park View Center is designed for active people who
wish to be free from the burden of home ownership and maintenance but continue to be

FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Melrose Fire Department consists of thirty volunteer
members. The single fire station houses seven apparatus and is located just off I-94
on 2nd Ave E. The fire department protects the cities of Melrose, Meire Grove and
Greenwald along with the surrounding rural areas. The volunteer members gather twice
a month for training and business meetings and are active in public education of fire
safety.

POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Melrose Police Department consists of four full-time career
officers, three part-time officers and four civilian reserve officers. The agency covers
four square miles and handles all requests for aid and services. The Police
Department's office is located in the Melrose City Center and has a 24 hour dispatch
service. Police, fire and EMS services can be contacted by calling

AMBULANCE SERVICE
The Melrose Area Ambulance Service is city owned and is dedicated to
providing quality care to all sick and injured persons in need of medical transportation.
The Ambulance Service covers a large area including ten cities and ten townships. The
Service provides 24 hour coverage with two ambulances. At present there are seventeen
volunteer members who are scheduled for on-call duties. All members are trained as
Emergency Medical Technicians and receive continuing education throughout their service as
volunteers. The Service has variances to do Advanced Airways, Defibrillation, and IV
Maintenance. All Service members volunteer at various community events and teach safety
clinics such as CPR and babysitting courses for pre-teens.
