Wobegon Trail passes
through the heart of Melrose as it stretches east and west
through central Minnesota. Beginning at Sauk Centre, the trail
follows the old railroad railbed through Melrose, Freeport, Albany, Avon, and St. Joseph. A portion of the trail veers off
and at Avon and goes to Holdingford. The trail is open to all
walkers, joggers, and non-motorized transportation. Snowmobilers are
welcome to use the trail when snow covered in the winter months.

Meadowlark
Country Club, located
1/2 mile south of I-94, is a well manicured and popular nine hole course
which is challenging to the experienced golfer and friendly to the
beginners. Meadowlark is a public course with several different
types of memberships available. Call Meadowlark Country Club office

Organized sports in Melrose are popular on both high
school and professional levels. In fact, seven professional athletes grew up in Melrose.
In the late 1920s and early 1930s, salaried teams played at Legion Park (now Lions Park)
as crowds filled a grandstand built to seat 800.
In recreational
sports, Melrose has long been
a hub for bowling leagues, slow-pitch softball, and baseball.
Indoor activities include a number of pool and dart
leagues, some of which compete on the state level, and a number of card clubs.
