MEL-TV 3 is the Melrose community access television station.  It is one of the assets that sets Melrose apart from other towns and cities of comparable size.  In existence since 1986, this station provides local programming to Melrose viewers.  Mel-TV 3 produces programs for everyone, including talk shows, art for all ages, church services, school activities, and events around the area.  We also cablecast our city council meetings live, and we play the local school board meetings and Stearns County commissioners meetings.  Mel-TV 3 also provides viewers with a 24-hour video bulletin board that runs between programs.  The video bulletin board displays area announcements as well as local weather information. If it is of interest to our citizens you can be sure that it is on this local TV station. 

Mel-TV 3 is governed by a seven-member board of directors and is operated by a full-time station manager.  Located in the Melrose City Center, the station has a full compliment of cameras, editing equipment, and audio/video accessories.   Even as we continue to grow and improve our programming, we remain committed to reaching the rest of the communities in the 740 School District.   Anyone with an interest in hosting and producing a talk show, videography, or computer presentations can contact the station manager for information about opportunities to volunteer.  (320/256-3547)

Melrose Public Library is a branch of the Great River Regional Library. You will have access to over 11,000 items on the shelves in this local branch and over 700,000 items in the main library in St. Cloud.  All of the GRRL systems materials are listed on a computer catalog which is accessible by Internet.  Anyone with a library card number may search the catalog and order items to be picked up at the local branch.  The Internet is accessible at the public Internet stations in the Melrose Public Library.  These are monitored by library personnel.

The citizens of Melrose are very proud of the Melrose Public Library.  Located in the very modern City Center, it is very comfortable and well organized with clear signage to direct users to the collections on the shelves. The library staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.  They receive reference and support services from GRRL headquarters in St. Cloud.  Through out the year, the staff conducts many children's programs to encourage good reading habits.

Melrose Area Historical Society, founded in 1987, strives to preserve and interpret the history and heritage of the residents of the Melrose School District.  Beginning with a fledgling collection, the society opened a local museum in the basement of a small former private home that also house the public library on the main floor.  With the dedication and generosity of the citizens, the collection soon out grew this area and moved into another former private home occupying the whole building.  In 1999, the City of Melrose purchased the former convent from St. Mary's Church and offered this large two story building as the new home of the Melrose Museum.  With the main level and second level along with the full basement, the volunteers of the society will be able to better display and interpret the collection to visitors interested in the history of this area.  

The Melrose Area Historical society is governed by a Board of Directors and volunteers operates the Melrose Museum.  These volunteers collect and catalogue all donated artifact and organize displays within the museum and lead tours for individuals and groups.  Currently the museum hours are Wednesday's from 9 am to 4 pm.  Tours are available at other times by appointment.  Call 320-256-3933 for more information.
