Message from the 2010 Chamber President
Thank LoriAnn Pohlmann, Corey Sand, Marlene Blommel and Sara Dewald. This board of directors was an awesome team to work with. They’ve made great efforts to achieve new ideas for the benefit of our chamber. Leaving this year is past president Marlene Blommel from Freeport State Bank and 4 year treasurer, Corey Sand from Central MN Federal Credit Union. Thank you for your time involved on the board of directors. I would encourage any of you to join the board of directors team. Also thank you to Kelly Neu, our executive director, who organizes the chamber events throughout the year.

Teamwork by members is a positive way to start a new year. You are all welcome to bring new ideas to our monthly membership meetings.  Help out by volunteering to chair or co-chair events. Just volunteering to help out at one event for even just a part of the time is greatly appreciated. With a little effort by everyone we can make a huge impact.

Thanks!
Jackie Tschida

2010 Miss Melrose

This fall, the Miss Melrose committee met to discuss the implications of moving Riverfest to August and when to have the Miss Melrose Pageant. After much discussion, the committee decided to keep the pageant in June. The decision was based on ability to recruit candidates while school is in session as well as results of an informal poll of potential candidates. If you would like to be on the Miss Melrose Committee, please contact Kelly at the chamber office or Chrystal Sand, pageant chair, at 256-4544.

Rosy Bucks make great Christmas Gifts!

Recaps of Events:

Halloween Parade and Party: The Halloween Parade and Party took place on October 31st. We had 240 children attend the party and receive a goodie bag with items donated by Melrose Chamber Members. This event is put on in conjunction with Great River Regional Library and Adley Creek 4-H.

Holiday Kick-Off: Another holiday season was kicked off in fine style at the 2009 Holiday Kick-Off on November 26. We had  great participation of  sales and promotions at businesses and there were many people out and about on the streets. We took 60 pictures with Santa and had 19 units in the Mini Dazzle Parade. Parade Prizes include: 1st Prize business class was Elite Transport, 2nd Prize Central Minnesota Federal Credit Union. 1st Prize organization class was Adley Creek 4-H, 2nd prize Girl Scout Troop 978. Thank you to all who participated in any way.

Holiday Cash Raffle: Thank you to everyone who sold and bought the $20 Holiday Cash Raffle Tickets. On the evening of the drawing the streets were buzzing with everyone dreaming of how they would spend their $5,000 and Peter F. Terres was the lucky name drawn by Santa.  The raffle was successful in raising $2,700 for chamber funds. We feel this was a successful event and would like  to continue it next year, possibly changing the prize slightly to have more winners. Please call or email with any thoughts or suggestions you have regarding this fundraiser.
