"Things happen because people who care make them happen." 2010 Home, Health and Family Expo Saturday April 10th 9am-2pm Spring is in the air and we are looking forward to our 2010 Melrose Home, Health and Family Expo. This year the event is scheduled for Saturday April 10th from 9am to 2pm at the Melrose Elementary School Gymnasium. Here is your opportunity to showcase your products and services to over 500 people for just $75. As far as advertising dollars go, that price is hard to beat!
Features this year will include "ask a Master Gardener" at the Stearns County Master Gardener booth as well as demonstrations by the Lakes Area Tae Kwan Do all day. We will also enjoy a performance by the Just For Kix dance program at noon.
If your business doesn't lend itself to the expo, but would like to support another organization to be there, Great River Regional Library as well as the New Munich Jaycees are looking for a booth sponsors. Please let the chamber know if you would like to sponsor them.

2010 Melrose Area Chamber of Commerce Membership Congratulations to Central Minnesota Computer Services and Unique Boutique for winning the early chamber membership dues contest! They both enjoyed stay and play weekends provided by Grand Casino Mille Lacs. If you have not yet renewed your membership in the Melrose Area Chamber of Commerce, please do so today. Only with support of the Melrose businesses can this office continue to field relocation and visitors information requests, answer questions about and give contacts for local businesses, administer the Rosy Buck and Scrip Money Programs, plan and execute events that bring potential customers to town (Home Health and Family Expo, Melrose Riverfest, Crazy Days, Holiday Kick-Off) and many more valuable services. Big changes are brewing for Melrose Riverfest. After some discussion we have made the final decision that Melrose Riverfest will be a one day celebration on August 21, 2010. We are very excited to announce some changes include serving food that celebrates our local economy such as BBQ turkey legs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, ice cream, milk and more! Our tentative schedule is as follows: (additional items to be added) 1:00 pm Bean Bag Tournament 1:00 pm Kids Activities 4:30pm St. Mary's Church Mass 6:00 pm Bed Races 7:00 pm Melrose Riverfest Parade 8:30-12:30 Music by "Sweet Siren"
Melrose Beautification Project
This is the time of year we begin to think about planting our seeds for our summer gardens, planters and window boxes. Here at the chamber we are beginning to think about the flower pots that line the streets of Melrose every summer. These pots beautify our city and make it look welcoming for both residents and visitors. We get many comments about how wonderful our flowers look the whole summer long. Once again this year we are asking individuals and businesses to sponsor a flower pot (s) for $25 each to help defray the cost of preparing, planting and maintaining the flowers for the season. We plant 105 pots so please take a moment and review the forms and consider a donation, as this is one of the programs we do that really makes our city shine. Misplaced the form? Download the form here Murder Mystery in Progress Are you looking for something new and different to do? The Melrose Chamber is in the progress of planning a murder mystery dinner that will be a fundraiser for a scholarship for a Melrose High School Senior as well as for chamber projects. In the next months we will be selecting a production and begin making plans for the event. If you would like to be part of this planning committee, please contact the chamber.

Free Advertising Opportunity What: Melrose Area Business Marketing Committee Coupon Insert When: Every other week from April 10th to June 5th Where: Inserted into the Melrose Beacon distributed to the Melrose School District Cost: Free to chamber members! How: Please get your ad copy to Berni at the Melrose Beacon by Monday March 29th for the April 10th coupons. You are not required to have a coupon every week to participate in this promotion. Space is limited to 12 businesses per week. Space will be allocated in a first come first serve basis.
Remember: a coupon is only as good at the "deal" you put on it. It is up to you to make this a successful promotion for your business.

Ink Cartridges Recycled Here Remember that the chamber is a source to recycle your used (name brand) laser and ink jet cartridges. We recycle them through "Funding Factory" and use the rewards to buy office products. Drop them off at the chamber office anytime, or call and we will come pick them up. Thank you for participating!
